Spice Up Grenada Tree Planting

Greening Our Future

Join us in planting the seeds of change. Together let’s grow a better tomorrow!

Join us in our “Spice up Grenada Tree Planting” initiative, a community-driven program designed to promote environmental sustainability, food sovereignty, enhance biodiversity and combat climate change. This initiative encourages farmers, agro-processors, agro-tourism businesses, families, schools, churches and organizations to come together to plant trees in our homes, local parks, neighborhoods and beyond.

Anyone familiar with Grenada’s Flavour Grenada Cocoa knows the old adage, “One One Cocoa Full Basket” which stems from the fact that our Fine Flavour Grenada Cocoa, Fine Flavour and Aromatic Grenada Nutmeg and spices are grown on a small-artisanal scale which imparts a special uniqueness.

The reality is that as agricultural lands in Grenada become increasingly scarce, we need to adapt to the changing times where each yard should contain a cocoa or spice tree to meet the growing demand for our unique agricultural products.

In addition, climate change is upon us where trees are a major factor to off-set the catastrophic effects of climate change.  Our “Spice up Grenada Tree Planting” initiative is at the heart of our community tourism program connecting individuals to the nature and each other.

Did you know that Grenada plants only “True Cinnamon or Ceylon Cinnamon”?  True Cinnamon is a powerhouse for managing diabetes and heart diseases as well as being anti-cancer and anti-inflammatory.

Our Goals

Increase Green Spaces: Improve the aesthetic and environmental quality of our communities by planting trees in urban areas, schools and public spaces.

Promote Biodiversity: Support local ecosystems by introducing native tree species that provide habitats for wildlife.

Combat Climate Change: Contribute to carbon sequestration efforts by planting trees that absorb CO2, helping to mitigate climate change.

Educate and Engage: Raise awareness about the importance of trees, their role in the environment, and the benefits they provide to our health and well-being.

Increase Food Sovereignty: Increase home gardening in the tri-island state where the old “kitchen garden” becomes vogue again.

How It Works

Community Events: Participate in organized tree-planting events where volunteers can help plant trees and learn about their care and benefits.

Adopt-a-Tree Program: We encourage participants to adopt trees they plant, committing to their maintenance and growth over time.

Educational Workshops: We host workshops and seminars on the importance of trees, proper planting techniques, and sustainable practices.

Partnerships: Mt. Parnassus Plantation collaborates with local schools, environmental organizations, and businesses to expand our reach and impact.

Get Involved

We invite everyone to participate in this initiative! Whether you want to volunteer at a planting event, donate funds for trees, or help spread the word, your involvement can make a significant difference. Together, we can create a greener, healthier future for our community and the planet.
