The Spice Up Grenada campaign is a vibrant celebration of our Caribbean island’s rich heritage and natural bounty initiated by Grenada Agro Tourism.  Grenada, often referred to as the “Isle of Spice” is renowned for its lush landscapes and abundant spices which has shaped our culture, economy and history for centuries.  In this campaign, we invite you to explore the fascinating world of our iconic Spices Gems – Grenada cocoa, Grenada nutmeg, West Indian Bay leaf, sapote, pimento or all spice, turmeric, cinnamon, ginger, black pepper, clove, mauby, cardamom and vanilla.

Through this journey you would delve into their diverse uses, from culinary delights to traditional remedies, agro-processing, uncover their health benefits and examine the significant economic role in driving the island’s prosperity. Visit our traditional Caribbean plantations and sustainable farms for farm-to-fork experiences. From the fragrant nutmeg that defines the island’s identity to the rich, smooth cocoa that fuels the global chocolate industry, these spices are more than just ingredients – they’re woven into the fabric of Grenadian life.

SPICE UP GRENADA TREE PLANTING

You Matter! Future Generations Matter! The Climate Matters!

Plant A Tree!

Grenada Cocoa

November 17th, 2023 marked the first day Mt. Parnassus Plantation began to distribute trees under the “Spice Up Grenada Tree Planting” initiative.

For centuries Pure Grenada: The Spice of the Caribbean has included spices as part of our daily culture.  The thirteen Spice Gems (Grenada nutmeg, Grenada Cocoa, cinnamon, clove, vanilla, West Indian Bay leaf, mauby, cardamom, ginger, black pepper, turmeric, sapote and pimento) are being replanted to replenish our spice stock.  The aim is for every home in Grenada to own a Spice Gem.

Plant! Plant! Plant! Thank you to the Grenada Cocoa Association for the 700 cocoa plants which were distributed to the members of Grenada Agro Tourism and the general public.

True Cinnamon & Pimento

On November 8th, 2024 individuals visited Mt. Parnassus Plantation to collect All Spice/Pimento and Ceylon/True Cinnamon seedlings under the “Spice Up Grenada Tree Planting” initiative.  In collaboration with Grenada Agro Tourism and the generosity of the Ministry of Agriculture approximately 700 seedlings were distributed to agro-processors, farmers, schools, church congregants and members of the general public.

In the fight against climate change Mt. Parnassus Plantation acts as a steward of the environment and would plant a tree on your behalf within the tri-island state.
