Our sustainable chattel house represents the perfect blend of our rich Grenadian and Caribbean cultural heritage and modern ecological consciousness.

Sustainably Sourced Local Lumber

At Mt. Parnassus Plantation we prioritize sustainable practices and preserve the rich cultural heritage of Grenada.

Essentially, we promote a healthier living environment by using local resources and sustainably harvested hardwood such as blue mahoe and bamboo.

Our sustainable chattel house serves as a model for responsible living, showcasing how you too can honor the past while embracing a more sustainable future!

Bamboo

In recent years, the concept of sustainability has transformed the way chattel houses are built and maintained in Pure Grenada.

Local artisans using traditional craftsmanship hand-carved our furniture.  Our mason, Salo said, “I know how to use bamboo” and the rest is history, he hand-crafted our bed, side table, stool, cupboards, toilet tissue holder – the list is endless!

Bamboo, celebrated for its remarkable strength and versatility is emerging as a favorite material in building and furniture design.  Known for its rapid growth and renewability, bamboo is an eco-friendly alternative to traditional hardwoods, making it an attractive choice for environmentally conscious consumers. Its natural aesthetic, characterized by a warm, unique grain, adds a touch of elegance to any space. Beyond its beauty, bamboo furniture is lightweight yet durable, offering both practicality and style.

Coconut Fiber Mattress

Our coconut fiber mattress represents a natural and sustainable choice for a healthier sleep experience.  Experience tradition and the softness of a coconut fiber mattress for an ultimate agro-tourism experience.

Made from the fibrous husk of coconuts, this traditional mattress is not only eco-friendly but also boasts exceptional breathability and moisture-wicking properties.

The natural fibers provide support to maintain proper spinal alignment while promoting airflow.

This airflow can help regulate body temperature throughout the night.

Additionally, coconut fiber is resistant to mold, mildew, and dust mites, making it an excellent option for those with allergies or sensitivities.

As more individuals seek sustainable and health-conscious products, our coconut fiber mattress stands out as a perfect blend of comfort, durability and environmental responsibility, offering a restful night’s sleep while contributing to a greener planet.
